This paper presents a theoretical investigation, based on numerical simulations, of the wave propagation phenomenon in damageable elasto-viscoplastic one-dimensional medium. The degradation of the medium induced by inelastic deformations is described by a local continuum damage model in a context of internal variable theory. To solve the hyperbolic governing equations, the Glimms scheme along with a splitting technique were used. Numerical simulations with and without damage are compared so that the influence of the damage on the wave propagation phenomenon is highlighted.

Beams joined in L are analyzed by the mobility approach. An initial analysis was carried out to determine what waves and coupling types are responsible for the transfer of most of the input energy to the coupled beam. For out-of-plane point excitations, torsional waves were observed to play na important role in power flow between beams by the flexural-torsional waves coupling. Bending waves modeled by Timoshenkos theory leads to greater flow of power when compared to Eulers theory. This is attributed to the larger modal density, and angular and transversal displacements provided by the shear and inertia effects taken into account by Timoshenkos theory.

COB1514 A SURVEY OF GENERATION OF OCEAN WAVES IN A TEST BASIN

This paper summarizes the facility of a test basin and a wave maker and also surveys the methodology of the generation of ocean waves using a wave maker in a test basin. The analytical design of wave tolerance for floating structures and vessels is still imperfect due to the mutually complex and nonlinear phenomena between structures and waves. Wave tolerance design is usually carried out through iterations of model tests in a test basin. One evaluates model tests in order to fix a final structural design. The wave generation has become an important technology in the field of the coastal and ocean engineering.
